Older Kansans Employment Program

The Older Kansans Employment Program (OKEP) is funded by the Kansas Legislature through the Kansas Department of Commerce to assist individuals age 55 and older in obtaining gainful employment. SWKAAA is the contracted provider for these and other employment services.

Following are a list of job openings. For more information about a particular job opening, please contact the OKEP coordinator/counselor nearest you: Dodge City; Garden city or Great Bend.

Highlighted Openings For Week of January 18, 2012 in Dodge City - Call Larry Durr, OKEP Coordinator, for more information at 620-225-8230. SWKAAA’s office is located at 236 San Jose (Hennessey Hall Bldg) in Dodge City.

     DODGE CITY: 

  • Receiving Clerk:  General knowledge to view and handle as well as document materials brought to the storeroom.  All applicants must be willing to work alongside others as well as by themselves with simple directions to comlete this job.   
  • Cook's Helper needed immediately. Able to work flexible hours and able to work around the elderly with true dignity and respect.
  • Case Manager: Must have a four-year degree in social sciences and one-year experience in working with the elderly. Position is open until filled. Position is in the Great Bend office. 
  • Licensed electrician with knowledge of all maintenance and installations for electrical equipment in buildings.  
  • Garden City Call Larry Durr, OKEP Coordinator, for more information at 620-225-8230. Larry will be at the Kansas Works Office at 7th & Spruce in Garden City every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. to 2:15 to assist with senior employment issues.  The Center's phone number is 276-2339.  SWKAAA’s main office is located at 236 San Jose (Hennessey Hall) in Dodge City and one can call t6o make an appointment at 620-225-8230.
    • Delivery Associate:  Full time and part time person to make deliveries in town.  Call (620) 225-8230 ext. 202 for more information.
    • Full-Time Secretary:  Secretary will have excellent skills on the computer and able to manage paperwork in a timely fashion.  If interested, call (620) 225-8230, ext 202 for more information.
    • Parts Personnel:  This person should have the ablility to speak good English and able to use basic computer skills and deal with the public.  If interested, call (620) 225-8230, ext. 202.
    • Great Bend Call Larry Durr, OKEP Coordinator, for more information at 620-225-8230. Larry will be at the KanWorks office at 1025 Main, Great Bend at 10:00 a.m. every Thursday.  The Center's phone number is 793-5445.  The main SWKAAA’s office is located at 236 San Jose (Hennessey Hall) in Dodge City: 225-8230.
    • Customer Service:  Candidates will have a good rapport with the public and good people skills and be able to relate information in a professional manner. 
    • Lead mechanic:  Needed for a small shop.  Works on engines and other types of equipment involved with construction. 
    • Case Manager:  Four-year degree in social services required.  Must be able to work with the elderly in various situations.  Position is in the Great Bend office.  If interested, call 620-225-8230.  Position open until filled.
